Do farts really stink?
Do farts really stink or are we just conditioned to believe that they do?I was just thinking about this because of a show I watched the other day. We are genetically made to think certain parts of the opposite sex are attractive for procreation purposes. Scents of people are the same way. They went on to say how the view of what is attractive has changed over the years, but in some parts of the world it hasn't. Then it got me thinking of other things that we are conditioned to think... like how years ago girls got married & started a family in their teenage years, etc. Don't ask me how it got me thinking about farts (probably because the cat farted, who knows)... but who decided that farts stink? And that flowers smell good? If you think about it, many animals go based off the smell of that particular area but yet we find it repulsive.

Hi. How are ya?

Hi. I'm popping into this world of blogging to say that. I've been a stranger, that I know. Just far too much going on! It's a busy time in the world of what I do for income - InsanityWear.com With Mom's Day and Daddy's Day coming up, it's unbelievable how many people think their parents want a t-shirt or a coffee mug. But hey, it pays the bills so keep shopping!
I did realize yesterday that I screwed up this year. I've got all my bulbs & seeds planted at home and out at the lake. All of a sudden yesterday I thought about it - all the back of the seed & bulb packets say "May-June" for planting in Minnesota. What month is it? It ain't May. WTF was I doing? Luckily for me, it warm, which is probably why I jumped the gun. Maybe I'll just have early blooms.
Demon #1 joined drama this year... so for the past few weeks she has been living in the Little Theater at school (thats what it's called... hey, I didn't name it) rehearsing for "Oklahoma!". She didn't get a big part, just one line. Friday night is the opening show and it runs all weekend. It will be nice to see her again next week... I hate to admit it, but I've kinda missed her.

PJ pants? Where can I get another pair?
Bits & pieces:
So wrong, in fact, that Tesco, a giant grocery chain in the UK, has actually had to enact an official store policy banning patrons wearing slippers and/or nightwear.and this....
For heaven’s sakes, moms, have some pride! I don’t actually care so much about what the other shoppers are thinking: Is a mother in her flannels really a lot worse than Britney Spears prancing through Target half-naked, in an outfit consisting mainly of flip-flops, cut-offs and a Starbucks cup? The problem is a matter of self-respect. How can you take yourself, and what you do in life, seriously, if you don’t think you’re important enough to even bother getting dressed in the morning?and that...
So far, no U.S. stores have followed in Tesco’s footsteps. But there are aOk wow. Get a life. Someone actually gives a crap if someone else wears PJ bottoms to a store? Are you the fricken fashion police? I can sit here and pick out a lot more "outfits" that should be banned from stores and none of them include PJ pants.number of people here who wouldn’t mind that happening. One Internet comment urged Walmart to impose the same rule. Added another, “I hopeAmerica adapts this ASAP.”
Now what I find incredibly wrong about this whole thing is that people don't seem to blink an eye about trying to get major chains to do this! What country do we live in again? You want a store to tell you what kind of pants you can wear? What if my PJ pants don't have bears or cupcakes on them? What if they are a solid color? Are you going to check my tag at the door? Feel the fabric to see if it's flannel? If I get hauled out because I'm wearing a pair of PJ pants what about the woman who walks in with all her cleavage hanging out? Or the guy with so many holes in his jeans you can see what brand of boxers he's wearing? And of course there is my personal favorite... the farmer who had to stop and get some milk and you can smell him when he walks in the door because he's been around cow shit all morning.
People need to really sit back and think about the word "freedom" before they start flapping their jaws about what other people do.
I work at home for a number of reasons, but one of them is because I like working in PJ pants. Are they clean? Yes. Am I clean? Yes. Hell, I even have makeup on... it's really helps bring out the color of the purple teddy bears on my pants. If I need to run up to the store, the last thing I'm worried about is some holier than thou mom thinking that my choice of clothing is wrong. My ass is covered... get over it.
And... yes there's more. Slippers. My favorite pair of slippers are moccasin like. They are slippers in every sense, but I wear them everywhere. To the store, on the short walk to my parents house... how the hell does anyone know if they are slippers or not? And I really don't give a shit if the woman behind me at the checkout has big floppy bunny slippers. I bet her feet are warm.
Ok thank you. I'm done now. Leave me and my PJ pants alone. I think these moms are just jealous because my ass looks better in PJ pants than theirs does...
This was brought up at IC Forums, too. Seems like I hang around with the right crowd.

Pants on the Ground - American Idol
He might not have made it to Hollywood, but General Larry Platt tickled the American Idol judges on Wednesday’s episode, which featured the season 9 auditions in Atlanta. The 62-year-old veteran sang his own song, “Pants on the Ground,” a musical critique of low-riding pants, that rivals Renaldo Lapuz’s original composition, “We’re Brothers Forever.”
Choice lyrics: “Pants on the ground, pants on the ground, lookin’ like a fool with your pants on the ground / With the gold in your mouth, hat turned sideway, pants hit the ground / Call yourself a cool cat, looking like a fool, walkin’ downtown with your pants on the ground!”
The judges couldn’t contain their glee and even Simon Cowell told Platt, “I have a horrible feeling that song could be a hit.”
Randy Jackson’s take: “I’m going to get my pants up. I’m going to buy some belts after this.” Sadly, though, Cowell was quick to inform Platt that he was over the show’s 28-year age limit. –Aaron Parsley
How could you NOT love this guy? Seriously! Hopefully he started a new trend of PULLING YOUR DAMN PANTS UP!!!

I'm addicted to watching WifeSwap and Big Love and my husband thinks I want a new wife or something.
I'm addicted to buying dog toys for Saki. I.just.can't.stop.

I'm addicted to saying very random things... like addictions.
I'm addicted to taking pictures of everything and anything.
10 random things about me:
-I have a dog who wears a diaper because he pisses in the house at any chance he gets.
-You can pretty much set your watch to my daily activities.
-I won't drink out of a coffee cup that doesn't have some sort of design on it.
-I have a weakness for male country singers.
-I have a fight with the husband twice a year - in the fall when I want to put the flannel sheets on the bed and in the spring when he wants them off.
-I like pickled fish.
-I have ruined tons of black t-shirts by cleaning with bleach when I have them on.
-I can't take any medications because I am so sensitive to them.

Blogging the day away
Not to mention the site was originally done in frames.... yuck. My first order of business was to get rid of those! So I did a half-ass job on it and hubby is content with it, so I'm happy. I'm not happy with the job I did because I think it looks tacky, but oh well. Maybe I'll dive into it again later.
I don't miss building websites, thats for sure. I'll stick to making this blog pretty and doing the CSS coding on my shops.
So it's raining and taking all our snow away with it. The roads are full of mini-lakes because, of course, most of the drains are covered in snow. That reminds me... I have to go fix our gutter so the water doesn't leak into our garage.
The Chico dog has this wierd stomach thing going on. He's laying about 4 feet from me and I can hear his stomach gurgling! Not kidding! He was doing it yesterday, too. I felt so bad for him that I gave him a couple saltine crackers. My bestest friend laughed at me, but what would you do? Saltines was the only thing I could think of! I wasn't going to give him a Tums.Painted my fingernails red today.
Kids are expensive. Demon #1 had an eye doctor appointment today and $250 later she has new frames & lenses. Why can't she just squint to see the board at school? Cripes.
I'm making pork chops for dinner tonight. The husband hates it when I make pork chops. See, I have this addiction to pork chops, I could eat them every night, but he doesn't like them as much. So I get to hear him protesting every time I make them. Too bad. I cook, we eat what I want.
I watched Walk The Line last night for the 23rd time. Another one of my addictions is Johnny Cash and anything that has to do with him. How can you not love the man? Every time that movie is on I'm sucked into watching it... the love story of him & June is the ultimate love story - right down to the very end. Everyone knew Johnny couldn't live without June, so his death was so expected.
Demon #1 has a whole bunch of Johnny Cash songs on her iPod... how cool is that? I got my addiction from my mom, seems right that I passed it on :)
I don't think I have anything else to say right now......

Thawing out
Not to mention my poor furnace couldn't keep up. Thats what I get with having a boiler and hot water heat. There is no instant heat, and no circulating of the air when we are all sleeping. Hopefully now the poor thing can catch a break... woke up to 15 degrees this morning and after this last week - that's a heat wave!
I am so sick of our roads being covered with ice & snow, too. We haven't been over freezing in weeks, so the roads just stay as they are. When it's this cold the salt & chemicals that they put down doesn't do any good. Once it hits 20-30 degrees they will and then... well then I'll be bitching about the slushy sloppy mess that's out there.
Yesterday Kimber & I were both having a blast on the forums. Most of the time it seemed like we were just talking to ourselves, but man it was fun! But I think I realized that Kimber has a crush on me during the process. Hmmm I'll have to start watching what I say to her from now on, I don't want her to get the wrong idea or anything.
Call this another shameless plug or just a bit of whining, but I'm really frustrated with the forums right now. No matter how much Kimber & I post it seems that nobody replies. We have a good, small group of people who log in multiple times a day, you would think we would have something to read whenever we log in... but it seems like it's only if her & I post. We need new blood. I absolutely love that CruelPaul joined up a few weeks ago... he's a snowmobiling buddy of the husband's... he's a hoot. He's so fun. But that reminds me that he didn't receive a very warm welcome from our members at all... in fact I've noticed that quite a few of them have not even acknowledged the fact that he's even there. A simple "hi" or "welcome" in his introduction thread would have been nice. But at least Nicho is liking having him there... I haven't seen Nicho post this much for years.
Like I said, we need new blood. New blood to go in and shake things up a bit. Different opinions, different views, different personalities.
Another whine of mine is I still can't shake this damn cold I've had for over a week.
(sorry, if you would read the forums, you would get that!
It's amazing to me that in a house of 4 people, only one person can get knocked out by this bug. I mean seriously, why do I get stuck with this sickness for days and days and everyone else is fine? It's not fair. It's just not fair!!!
I even tried putting Vicks on the bottom of my feet one night and it didn't do a damn thing. My bestest friend swears by it, but I don't know why.
So I'm going to go back to drinking my coffee
I'm out of laundry soap, so I know I have to go buy some of that. And milk. Damn these people drink a lot of milk. I need to buy my own cow.

Flying Hamsters
So I'm sitting here bored out of my mind. I don't know whats up, but it seems like everyone who is a member on InsanityCafe has either had their tongue ripped out by a madman or had their fingers cut off by some wicked doctor who plans on doing finger transplants because nobody is fricken talking on there today. I've played so many games of Hamster Flight I feel like a flying hamster on a mission for rockets with fire coming out of them. It's crazy. I'm going to dream I'm in a hamster ball tonight, I swear.I am just in shock that it's already December. I just don't understand where this year went. It's going to be 2009... do you remember how we all were so nervous about the coming of 2000? That didn't seem like that long ago, but yet it's a year short of a decade.
I snuck Demon #2 a benedryl tonight. Flame me with your comments, I don't give a rats ass. Until you've lived with this child, shut up. I couldn't take it anymore. Even she mentioned she's more hyper than normal. Good God. I really need to get her in to get her TSH levels checked again because even she is wondering if her thyroid isn't whacked out. I hope it's the case because her next stop is either boot camp or a foster home. Or a circus. Something. She's a difficult child to deal with and usually I have no troubles at all (the husband on the other hand... well, when you fall from the same tree, watch out! Those two are like oil & water). The past couple days I'm ready to just string her up by her toenails and duct tape her to the ceiling. Lord, tell me it's just a phase. She's got 3 months before she officially becomes a teenager... I just don't think it can get much worse.
But then again, Demon #1 spends her waking moments walking around with a permanant frown on her face. No, not a frown - a pissed off at any one of the adult persuasion look. She whines and argues and ... ok, I admit it. Demon #2 is looking like an angel now.

Its gonna be random
So yesterday I made our Christmas cards, then I wrote our yearly "letter" to send with it. I'm sitting there and realized that nothing exciting had happened to us in 2008 except for getting Saki. Which probably is ok, it's better than something huge & horrible happening. Knock on wood, of course, because 2008 isn't finished yet.
My brother, Patrick, is a member on IC Forums... actually he's the brains behind it. There wouldn't be a forum to post on if it wasn't for him. Anyway, the other day he posted about a Motrin ad that was created & run that sent a whole bunch of sling-baby-wearing moms into an uproar. I had to laugh.. I never "wore" my babies and not that I have anything against it or anything but I think Motrin was thinking when they created that ad! Wearing your baby any way, even just with your arms, is pain. Plain and simple. And there is not a mother out there who can tell me differently. Motherhood causes headaches, backaches, stomachaches and everything else in between. It comes with the territory. And if you tell me it doesn't, I've got 2 perfectly behaved, non-emotional teenagers to sell you. I think Motrin should point there ad at me! The baby years are easy... just wait until your precious cooing bundles of joy turn into back-talking, mood swinging, hormonal, hate-you-then-love-you teenagers. You don't know the pain of a migraine until you've gotten past those terrible twos.
But yet, even though my demons hate me after I tell them to take out the garbage or that they need to clean their room... I still just had to get them both a puffle from ToysRUs yesterday because... well, I'm a mom and even though they cause me pain, I forget about it when I think of how happy they will be when I give them their "for no reason present". (A "puffle" is a character on Club Penguin. If your kids haven't discovered Club Penguin yet... let them. It's a great site. Very safe, very monitored.)
I've been sick for almost a week... I wish one of the demons would have given me a "for no reason present" of doing the dishes at least once this past week. Never happened. Oh well. The pain of being a mom. They have clean clothes, clean dishes and blueberry muffins in their tummies, but I am still sick.
Baby wearing moms.... just wait. You ain't felt the pain that Motrin can't relieve.
Wow. I really went off on that, now didn't I? Just strikes a cord with me. Perfect little mommies. They all live in a dreamworld.
Hmmm now I don't have anything else to say. Chico is barking at God knows what. Probably the wind or something stupid. I swear that he must have some sort of anxiety disorder. He's always scared of something and tries to act like a big dog and bark. I tell him that nobody is afraid of a dustmop, but he just keeps going.
Hey.... dustmops. I finally got one of those Swiffer WetJets this weekend. The jury is still out if I like it or not. Seems to leave streaks on my living room floor (it's got a wood floor - or those knock-off wood floors I suppose you could call it). Seems to pick up a lot of stuff though. Either that or my floor was just that dirty. It is that time of year... wet, muddy, dogs drag their muddy paws across my floors.
Anyone ever use those Frebreeze candles? Holy cow, do they throw off their scent! It's got to be the strongest smelling candle to date. Love them. Sometimes its too much, but it makes the whole house smell good - not just the 4 foot circumfrance of the candle.
You still reading?? I have days like this where I just want to type about nothing in particular. Today is one of those days. I really should get my ass in gear and go do my errands and visit my parents but I have no ambition. And my weatherbug says its 19 degrees outside. Brrrrcity, as Kimber would say.
Ok I guess I'm done. Don't know if it was worth reading or not, but it got my blogging out of my system for the time being.
I'm adding the Motrin video. Seems even the cached page of it doesn't work. Tell me what you think? Think Motrin went too far? You already know my opinion....

I'm not dead... yet
So I've just been sick. Thats my excuse.
I have gotten 2 different awards from 2 different people this week that I have to put up/pass on and I just haven't had the ambition. I'll do it... and thank you.

I Quit T-shirt Designing

I Quit Snowmobiling
Your sledding buddies will get a laugh out of this one when they see "I quit snowmobiling" but then see that it actually says "I quit my job so I could do more snowmobiling".
I hate having days like this. I can't think of anything to design. I made this one, but it's only because I saw a similar quote on another site. It said "I quit ________ dancing".
But now I'm stuck. My mind is completely blank and I should be pushing out designs like crazy with Christmas coming up. But I can't. It's like a writers block sort of thing.
Throw me a bone - what should I design today?

I just hate days like this.
Typical Monday.
Ok I did one for scrapbooking, too. I Quit Scrapbooking I really am bored today and not very creative.
