The phone/Skype Meme

This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by Berleen & Kimber via phone & Skype conference, the color mango and the number 70566.

1. What color is your front door?
White. It's just a screendoor though. My real door, that is a really ugly brown. I should buy a new door.
2. We discussed our folks in previous TT so now tell me about your siblings. If you are an only child, tell me whether or not you wanted siblings, older, younger etc.
Sorry Kimber, but I'm doing that lame thing and skipping this one. There's 4 of them.... it will take too long. Bruce, Brent, Brenna & Patrick. There they are.
3. What color/type butterfly is your favorite?
Yellow, of course. Duh.
4. Will you be celebrating Cinco De Mayo?
I honestly don't even know what the sam hell it is.
5. Oprah- love her, hate her, or don't care?
She has some interesting people on every now and then but other than that I don't watch her. When she wasn't so famous I really liked her, though.
6. Are you worried about the spread of swine flu?
Not particularly. A case is within miles from me so it's here... listening to Obama talk last night you would make it think we should all build bomb shelters or something.
7. Hard or soft pillows?
soft squishy ones!
8. How many trees are in your neighbor's yard?
2 in the front... one in the back.
9. What was the color of the last car you saw?
maroon...
10. When does your driver's license expire?
ok I have to go look... let me get back to you.
11. Look at the clock on your computer and type the numbers backwards.
436
12. When you put your pants on, what leg do you put in first?
ha ha this was one of my questions! Wanna know why? Cause the other day for some dumb reason I tried to put my left leg in first and almost fell over. I can't put my left leg in first - its dangerous.
13. How would you respond to this letter if you were an advice columnist.

I am an ugly woman. I was an ugly baby and child even! It is a fact. I am 36 now and I have never had a boyfriend, and I am still a virgin.

Due to me not having men in my life, I have poured everything I have in to education and my career. At 36 I am the youngest (and first female CEO) at a big, successful, tech company. I have over 200 personal patents and millions of pounds in investments.

I have everything: huge house, holiday villa in Spain, 3 cars, power boat, a race horse, etc. but as much I try to talk myself into everything being “great” I cannot help but to miss that special someone to share it all with.

Most of my friends are married with kids and I feel like I am gradually drifting away from them also.

Where can I find someone to marry an ugly woman?
Get a facelift.

Was that mean?

Twilight, Emails, Being Nude And More Crazy Questions!

This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by Kimber, the color rainbow and the number 2.

1. Recently Berleen and I discovered the allure of the Twilight series. Have you ever been sucked in to the latest "thing"? (Like Harry Potter, the movie Titanic, social networking, etc. etc. etc.)
  • Yep. She's hooked as bad as I am. Only she's farther ahead of me. By 2 books. Damn her. So yeah, I was sucked into Twilight. Before that? No real "craze" type thing - I always went after my own obsessions. Ever read Clan of the Cave Bear? Now thats a series to get hooked on... it's the Earth Children's series if you wanna look it up. The last book is being written now. Still waiting on it.
2. What software do you use for your email?
  • Mozilla Thunderbird. Nothing more, nothing less.
3. Are you comfortable being nude?
  • Not really. Is that sad? I'm most comfortable in a tank top & undies. I guess I like to be covered. Maybe I just feel sexier in that than I do my own skin. I don't know. Strange question.
4. What is something you plan on doing this summer?
  • Fish. Yes, I am a fishergirl. It's a sickness.
5. Do you have a favorite movie/book quote? If so, what is it?
  • I'm embarrassed. "I wish I knew how to quit you." I'm not saying what movie it's from because... it's embarrassing.
  • I'll also add "You know something, you ain't nothing special. You got no manners, you treat woman like whores and if you ask me you got no chance of being no officer." - Officer & A Gentleman
  • And the best, "Hey, look friend, let's just cut the shit. Now we both know why I was transferred. Everybody thinks I'm suicidal, in which case, I'm fucked and nobody wants to work with me; or they think I'm faking to draw a psycho pension, in which case, I'm fucked and nobody wants to work with me. Basically, I'm fucked." - Mel. Lethal Weapon. And yes, I know he left his wife. For me. Didn't you all see that coming? I told you it would happen... he'd leave her eventually! .... oh and the pic I chose is a good line, too. "Do you really wanna jump? Do you wanna? Well, that's fine with me. Come on, I wanna do it, I wanna do it."
6. How many email addresses do you have?
  • I had to go look. 5. All for different reason and I can't keep track of any of them.
7. Is the sky falling?
  • I sure hope the hell not!
8. Have you been to the Grand Canyon?
  • No, but Kimber is gonna take me there.
9. When was the last time you mailed a hand written letter?
  • Probably 7 or 8 years ago. It was to one of my aunts that I used to write letters to all the time. They've both passed away so the letters stopped.

Twilight Addict

I am admitting my obsession. I am 110% hooked on the Twilight series. I bought the first 2 books on Thursday... had the first one read by Saturday night. I would have had it done sooner but it was an Easter gift to the demons and I was reading in secret. I was busted in the last chapter though... I heard Demon #1 walking in my room but I couldn't put the book down - I had to know how it ended.

The second book, New Moon, I read in less than 24 hours. I got nothing done yesterday but laundry. The family had to wait for supper until I was done with the book. They are suffering because of my addiction.

I'm not alone. My bestest friend is reading it, too. In fact, at one point yesterday we were in the same part of the book. I talked to her in the morning and found out that I had passed her up. I don't care if she has a 3 month old baby at home and 3 other kids to take care of - read faster, dammit! So I told her I would stop at the end of Chapter 12 so she could catch up. She finally called me last night and confessed that she read farther... I didn't feel so bad that I only had about 10 pages to go until I read the whole thing.

I guess I was the only one in this world that didn't know werewolves were a part of this book, too. So that was a surprise to me. I'm glad I didn't know - I didn't see it coming. I should have, of course, since it was mentioned in the first book but I figured it wasn't significant. I was wrong. I did have issues with the fact that Edward wasn't in most of the book. I was getting pissed at him... how could he leave Bella like that? Seriously? My heart broke when he thought she was dead and he was trying to have himself killed. He didn't want to live in a world that she wasn't apart of. How absolutley romantic is that? And then to find out that he left the pictures and his music in her floorboards... I busted out laughing (which made Demon #1 tell me I was a headcase). I was sorta disappointedg that Bella wasn't actually hearing his voice when she was in trouble, that she created it herself. I was really hoping that Edward was just watching her from a distance, trying to keep her safe.

So yes, I'm hooked. I have to go and get the other 2 books now. I have to pace myself though - I read the first two far too fast. But I need to know how... or if... they are going to be able to turn Bella into a vampire and not break the treaty.

I know my bestest friend has started the 3rd book without me. I just know it.

Rabbits, don't get it, ouch and other randomness

This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by Berleen, the color orange and the number 9999.
1. What was the last thing you ate?
  • some chicken stuff I made last night

3. Lamps or ceiling lights?

  • I'd walk until I found a signal.
6. What is one thing most of your friends do online that you just can't understand the fascination and do not participate in?

7. What do you need right now?
  • My Demon #2 to wake up and get ready for school without a fight. I don't think it will happen.
8. And your most serious injury you've had was....?

9. What is the most evil thing you've ever done?
  • I'm not a very evil person. The Demons will say otherwise, though.
10. Give us some random fact about you.
  • I never played a sport in high school.

3/4 of a century

My daddy is 75 today! Nobody ever thought he'd see this day after everything he went through a few years ago. He had a quad bybass surgery, congestive heart failure, had his gall bladder removed and before all that he had a shunt put in his head to relieve the fluid that was causing his balance issues. Then, of course, we had a lung cancer scare among other things. We also found out that at some point he had a heart attack. It was a scary few years. I saw the strongest man I knew grow weaker and weaker by the day until he couldn't even hold a cup up to his lips. It was heartbreaking and frustrating, to say the least. He spent a few months in a nursing home because there was nothing that the hospitals could do anymore and he was too weak to stay home. Trust me, we tried to have him at home. There were days I prayed harder than I had ever prayed for God to just take him. But either God didn't want him or he's really that stubborn because today he is healthy! He's not the man he was 10 years ago - he still has a hard time getting around, but from what he's gone through it's nothing short of a miracle.

So now every birthday is one more milestone and reminds me of how lucky I am to still have him to visit everyday. He might not be as strong as he once was, but he can still be stubborn, play jokes and piss you off to know end.

So Happy Birthday Dad.

He shares his birthday with his mother, too, who would have been 105 today. It's a double-special day because Grandma Rose is the only grandparent that I ever met and I'm named after her. She died in 1983.

Sunday Stealing: Our Third Meme About Blogging

Cheers to all us thieves!

Sunday Stealing: Our Third Meme About Blogging

1. How did you come up with your blog title OR what does it mean?
Because of Demon #1 & #2, I live in a padded room world and most days I need a straitjacket... it's the world called parenting.
2. What are your general goals for blogging?
We are supposed to have goals in all of this?
3. Do people “in your real life” know that you blog and do they comment on your blog OR is it largely anonymous?
I have a few IRL people that read. And most of the people that have commented, I've become "online friends" with through blogging. But, then of course, there are those few people who think they read anonymously, but I know they are watching.
How often do you post (x per week)?
Depends on my mood, if I have something to blog about and/or if the memes are interesting. 3-5 times I suppose.
4. How often do you read other blogs (x per week)?
I try to read them everyday... or as often as they post.
5. How do you select blogs to read (do you prefer blogs that focus on certain topics or do you choose by tone or…?)
if they keep my attention. Simple as that. I tend to be turned off real quick of the ones who are constantly running contests. I don't get that.
6. Do you have any plans to copy your blog entries in any other format, 0r do you think that one day, you’ll just delete it all?
I'll just one day decide thats enough, and poof, I'll disappear and take the posts with me.
7. What are the things you like best about blogging?
the people I meet through it.
8. What are the things you don’t like about blogging?
People who visit religiously but don't leave comments. How hard is it to leave a comment? I love memes, but I have issues with those who just do the meme, leave their link on the meme site and then don't go visit other blogs.
9. How do you handle comments?
Handle them? I read them... sometimes respond if it's worth responding to.
10. Do you have any burning thoughts to share on blog etiquette?
I guess it goes back to the meme commenting. Take the time to comment.
And take the fricken music off your blog. First of all... it slows the page down. Second of all - how do you know I'll even like the song? Thats as bad as people who use those answering tones... you never hear the song anyway, only your callers do and newsflash for you - not everyone likes your kind of music.
11. Any desired blog features?
To blog for me when I have nothing interesting to blog about.
12. Have you suffered blog addiction?
when I first read this I thought it said "accident". Silly me. No, I have no addiction. Yet.

April Fools, Non-Reality, Cracking Your Knuckles, And Other Off The Wall Questions

This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by Kimber, the color yellow and the number 8554.

1. Did you play any April Fools jokes on anyone or have a joke played on you?
Besides Mother's Nature's cruel joke of 10+ inches of snow? Nope and not really.
2. If you could be on any non-reality TV show as a guest star or star, which one would it be and why?
Days of our Lives.... or House!
3. Do you crack your knuckles?
multiple times a day and I just found out the other day that it's actually bubbles or something like that. You just never stop learning.
4. If you remember your first day of kindergarten, were you scared or excited? If you have kids or grandkids, were they scared or excited?
I don't remember mine and the demons were excited as all hell!
5. If you are in the shower, hear the fire alarm going off and smell smoke/see flames, will you just run out of the house with a towel on or grab some clothes & dress as you run out?
I wouldn't even grab a towel...
6. Last week the Thursday Thunkers asked about your Daddy (twice), so this week tell us a little about your Mom.
my mom died when I was 7, don't remember a whole lot about her. I have a really cool rockin' stepmom though! She's been around since my mom died and even though we basically hated each others guts while I was growing up, we are really good friends now.
7. Which search engine do you use most often?
Google. Is there another one?
8. Did you participate in Earth Hour?
Just lights & computers. TV's stayed on. So we kinda cheated.
9. What was the last new-to-you movie you watched? Was it in the theater or on DVD? Was it good?
I watched most of the new Dawn of the Dead the other night. It was really stupid, just as I expected it to be but there was nothing else on at the time.
10. If you do something embarrassing, do you laugh it off, or sit & worry about it?
I'd laugh it off... thats the best part of embarrassing moments!
11. Where is your favorite spot in your home to sit & relax?
sitting in my recliner with my eyes closed and music blaring... very though provoking.

In other news... just because I have to say it, I was bit by my loveable, sweet Serena Rosabella today. She doesn't like hates to be brushed but once and awhile I have to do it anyway. She usually bites me when I brush her, but never like this. She bit HARD. I could have killed her. I have 2 punctures in my finger, one on each side, and I think the one puncture possibly hit the bone or went under my fingernail or something because that side hurts bad. Plus my finger is all hard and swollen and I have little feeling in it. And it's red. Can't wait to see what it's going to look like in the morning... I'm almost afraid.

Don't let her beauty fool you... she's really a bitch.

What we woke up to this morning....

Tuesday there was no snow on the ground.
