Thursday Thunks Version 6.7

Welcome to the Thursday Thunks! Where we make you think a little bit before you blog!

This week we will answer:
We had so much fun with last weeks self-descriptions that we are sorta going to do it again!

This week we are going to take the letters of the state you live in and use each one to describe why you absolutely love your state! Then take them again and use each one to describe why you absolutely hate your state!

.... and tell your friends!

Land of the Lost movie?

Be serious. Are writers having that hard of a time coming up with new ideas that they have to take old shows and try to redo them? I have gotten over the horrible remake of the Dukes of Hazzard... sort of. I still get angry when I see the movie.... that was just one show that shouldn't be made fun of. Not that one.

Anyway, so now they are doing The Land of the Lost. A lot of people either 1. never seen the original 70's version of the show 2. don't remember it or 3. saw it, remember it and won't admit to it. I saw it, loved it and still have nightmares about it. Looking back at the show now, it was horrible - the acting sucked and the special effects were laughable. I tried to get Demon #1 & #2 to watch it one day and they couldn't believe we watched stuff like that as a kid. I think one of them said something to the effect of "wasn't there anything good on when you were a kid?", but that WAS good. For the 70's anyway. The show rocked.

Don't redo it, WTF are you people thinking? Come up with new movies - leave the classics alone! The worst part about it all is that Will Farrell is playing Rick Marshall. That just makes my skin crawl. Land of the Lost was NOT a comedy. It had its humor, but it wasn't a comedy.

If they ever redo the Buggaloos or Sigmund, all of my childhood memories will be crushed.

No parents on leashes!

I know this is going to be the silliest gripe ever, but here goes:

When I was a kid, I didn't want anything to do with my parents. I didn't want to be associated with them, nothing. Then, summer vacations came and mine consisted of running around town with friends. We didn't care where... we just went. Good times.

Now lets fast forward to now. My kids. I swear to God I didn't drop them on their heads as babies... maybe Trucker did, but I didn't. Whats wrong with them?

Saturday, as I've mentioned, was our town's festival... my kids only went uptown (which is 3 blocks away) when I went. I tried giving them money to go buy food, play games, whatever.. other family members tried.. they wouldn't go!

Sunday a church here in town had their bazaar. Trucker & I took the girls. We had to basically force them to play games. They didn't want to leave our sides. We PUSHED them towards the games and told them we'd be over sitting on a bench.

"You are going to ditch us!"

WHAT? Our kids are worried about us ditching them?!!?!? We walked up there.... it's not like they would be stranded or anything. They knew the way home.

There are kids running all over that place with no parents on leashes...why are our kids like this? On the way home we ran into Taryn's bff & her little sister. "Look Taryn! There's Kari and she's going somewhere without her mommy!"

Yeah, I know, sarcasm isn't the best way to talk to your kids, but I'm at my wits end here....

So now it's the week and yesterday I threatened that I was going to ground them FROM THE HOUSE. Go... go do something. Go bowling, go play in the arcade, go to the park, go find a friend, go to the Dairy Queen, go to the library... whatever! I even threw money at them!! Taryn has like 4 friends who live within walking distance... she didn't want to call them. "They are probably busy".

I know, I know, I should be happy that my kids stick at home instead of running around all over town doing things that I have no clue what they are doing, but I still just want them to at least... just once a week.... go be kids! This has how it's been all fricken summer long. I could understand if I wasn't always home with them, but you would think they would get sick of me. They are with me 24/7. I'm just asking for an hour...

Just rambling

So I sit here on this beautiful Tuesday morning and I can't seem to wake the hell up. I look in the mirror and I look like hell... holy crap are my eyes puffy! I slept, I don't know whats up. I felt like this yesterday morning, too. I don't like sleeping. I hate it. Just let me sleep and wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed like I'm used to.

Not this run over by a truck feeling. Yuck.

In case you haven't noticed, I've been slacking on the whole blogging thing. Writing and reading. I suck, I know. I have an excuse, although it's probably lame and you won't accept it anyway, but here goes -

I'm working. I know it's only the beginning of August, but do you realize how close Christmas is? Do you know how close Christmas shopping is? With me opening TheFishingBowl.com, I have been busting my ass getting SEO (search engine optimization - what you type in when you Google things) picture perfect and adding more designs. I really gotta get some new stuff into SledderWear, but who wants to do snowmobile designs when it's 80some degrees outside?

But then again, the husband went snowmobiling this last weekend... yep, he did. On grass... he went to a grass drags event up north. Yeah, they do that. They snowmobile on grass and actually race.

I swear it's a disease. It's gotta be.

(I stole the picture from the guys over at VintageSleds.com. There's more pics over there....)

Not to mention that dreaded (but welcomed!) back to school is sneaking up on us fast. I have to sit down and figure out what the demons need for school. Was looking at backpacks last night online... I wish they would make them like they used to. I'm sick of buying them every year.

Or maybe my demons are just that hard on them.

Both my babies demons are going to be in Jr High this year. No more elementary school for me. They grew up so fast... way too fast. Just 6 more years and they'll be out of the house....

Damn, thats not that long.

And to think, my bestest friend is starting over again with the kid thing.....

... and I giggle inside.

Waterball fight, anyone?

My friend, Debbie, is a business owner in our city. She comes up with these bright ideas every now and then, which always involves roping others into whatever the plan is.

This year it was a water ball fight. A water ball fight is where you take a fireman's water hose and try to push a ball on a steel cable over to the other teams side ... oh yeah, you are fighting against other businesses on this.

This is one of the bigger events in our town's annual festival. Why people want to come watch a bunch of people who have never even touched a water hose in their life make fools out of themselves and get completely drenched, is beyond me, but they do.

And I suppose it's kinda fun.

I'm the 3rd in line in this 2nd picture, with demon #2 in the back behind me. (yep, she got roped into this, too!) My sister-in-law is in the front and the culprit who did this to us all is 2nd in line.

I have a feeling we'll do this again next year!

Thursday Thunks Version 7.31 - My answers

I'm going to tackle my own Thursday Thunk... all the letters of my name (mixed up) used to describe myself.

Really good at doing nothing. It's an art form... everyone should try it.
Loves animals. Thats sorta obvious though, isn't it?
Loves her children. Ok, I guess I'll throw them in too. I do love them. But don't tell them that.
Learned how to play pool before I started school... in a bar. Cool fact, huh?
Exceptional. In what, who knows! LOL
Early riser. Hate to waste the day.
Even though I might sound like a bitch, I'm really not.
Enough with the E's already! I'm not very patient....
Kind hearted... probably to a fault.
Necro... oops. Nevermind on that one. Nuts. Thats my REAL answer!
Bears. I collect them. Not real ones, though.
Peanut Butter!!! I LOVE peanut butter. Peanut Butter cups, peanut butter over ice cream, peanut butter flavored ice cream....
Home. I love home... there's really no need to leave it. I'm safe within the walls of my home (see "N")
Oh brother. What a hard letter. Brothers... I have 3 of them! (and a sister, but there are no S's in my name, but I didn't use B for brothers either, I used an O because I couldn't think of anything else.)
Nighttime... bad time. It's dark and I can't see in the dark (seriously - from an accident), so when it's nighttime, I'm sleeping!
Always thinking of others. Another fault of mine.
Mom.
