My letter to me

My Thursday Thunk....

Dear 18 year old self,

Shape the hell up you stupid idiot.

Pretty harsh, huh? Well, its the truth. You are a moron. First off, listen to your father and go to college for computers. I don't care what with computers, just go. I know you don't have any interest in them and turning them on is too confusing, but just believe me. Sure, Joyce is actually on your side on this one but for once - Dad is right. Amazing, yes I know, but just listen to him. Believe it or not, in 15 years your life will revolve around computers. You will even be making money because of them... but it takes you 15 years, so stop being an idiot and go to college.

When the 2 guys walk into the cafe the night that that strange guy is freaking you out - go ahead and ask them to stay but then forget about them. Seriously... especially the blonde, just forget you ever saw him. I really don't know how your life will turn out if you listen to me, but you'll at least avoid 2 years of hell on earth.

If you are reading this during the "Jason break up time" - suck it up. Quit your fricken crying and eat something other than oatmeal cream pies... you don't like them and you never will. Eating them won't bring him back. But time will... yeah, you end up with him in the end.

Follow those few little things and the things you screwed up on should be fixed. The rest is all ok. If you do forget the blonde... don't find another reason to move out. Stay at Dad & Joyce's and take the accident settlement and bank it. Don't spend it in a month... but as long as you forget the blonde, a good chunk of it won't be spent right away.

Don't burn your diaries. You spent years writing them... don't burn them. Your memory sucks and you pretty much forget everything that was probably written in them, so just keep them. I don't care how embarrassed you are about stupid stuff you wrote, don't burn them. It's not worth it.

Thats about it.

Oh... and yeah, the rumors are true.... there is a sibling out there somewhere, so you can stop stressing about it. You'll meet him in a few years. Yep, it's a boy. He's pretty cool - cooler than you imagined the make-believe little sister to be. (yep, you really aren't the baby... but you get over that as soon as you meet him)

Oh... one more thing. Don't let Murray outside anymore. Keep him an inside cat. You might get an extra year or so with him that way. It's quite a ways down the road, but just keep him inside.

Thursday Thunk 8.14 Letter to Me

Welcome to the Thursday Thunks! Where we make you think a little bit before you blog!

This week we will answer:

There's no question to answer this week. This week you are going to write a letter to yourself...I talked about it the other day, giving you loyal readers a heads-up. The idea came from Brad Paisley's song "A Letter to Me" where, in the song, he wrote a letter to his 17 year old self. You can pick the self you want to write to... 18, 15, 12... whatever! Be creative!

.... and tell your friends!

at the moment blogger is not loading right where I can add Mister Linky for you to add your link.... I'll keep trying. Leave a comment with your link if nothing else! nevermind... it's fixed. Yeeehawww. Who's first?

Don't forget to visit other's Thursday Thunks and comment!

Finding time to think about school

Do you find that your brain goes into overdrive at certain times of the day? My is early morning and late at night... midday I'm in idiot mode. I couldn't come up with a creative thought right now to save my life. It's strange, really, how each person is different. I guess that goes with the whole morning vs night person.

What I hate is that right before I fall asleep is when I come up with my most creative thinking, but I'm too lazy to get up and write/type it out. I lose many brilliant ideas in the moments before slumber. I've had some good ones too, I know it, I just can't remember them.

Ok maybe they weren't that good.

I do know that summer vacation needs to be shortened. When you hear your child say "I'm sick of playing video games" you know it's time to go back to school. The demons have exhausted the trampoline, fishing and yes... even video games. I am hearing "I'm bored." so much now I could scream. They just don't like my ideas of fun though.. I've offered washing windows, hanging laundry on the line and mowing the lawn, they just won't bite on those fun activities.

Although Demon #2 did scrub the floor for me last week... she was excited to do it! I'm sure it was a once in a lifetime thing though. I'll never experience that again.

So summer needs to end. Now. 2 1/2 weeks to go.... it's just not soon enough.

I shall think about that the rest of the day. It's not a brilliant thought, but it's a thought.

Crap. I haven't even started school shopping yet.

Thursday Thunk.... huh ? It's Monday!

I'm giving everyone a sneak peek to Thursday's Thunk because this one is going to be a doozy and I think it's only fair that I give people a heads up and time to think!

Brad Paisley has a song out right now that I just love. It's called "A Letter To Me".

If I could write a letter to me
And send it back in time to myself at 17
First I'd prove it's me by saying look under your bed
There's a Skoal can and a Playboy no one else would know you hid
And then I'd say I know it's tough
When you break up after seven months
And yeah I know you really liked her and it just don't seem fair
All I can say is pain like that is fast and it's rare

And oh you got so much going for you going right
But I know at 17 it's hard to see past Friday night
She wasn't right for you
And still you feel like there's a knife sticking out of your back
And you're wondering if you'll survive
You'll make it through this and you'll see
You're still around to write this letter to me

At the stop sign at Tomlinson and Eighth
Always stop completely don't just tap your breaks
And when you get a date with Bridgett make sure the tank is full
On second thought forget it that one turns out kinda cool
Each and every time you have a fight
Just assume you're wrong and dad is right
And you should really thank Mrs. Brinkman
She spent so much extra time
It's like she sees the diamond underneath
And she's polishin' you 'til you shine

And oh you got so much going for you going right
But I know at 17 it's hard to see past Friday night
Tonight's the bonfire rally
But you're staying home instead because if you fail Algebra
Mom and dad will kill you dead
Trust me you'll squeak by and get a C
And you're still around to write this letter to me

You've got so much up ahead
You'll make new friends
You should see your kids and wife
And I'd end by saying have no fear
These are nowhere near the best years of your life

I guess I'll see you in the mirror
When you're a grown man
P.S. go hug Aunt Rita every chance you can

And oh you got so much going for you going right
But I know at 17 it's hard to see past Friday night
I wish you'd study Spanish
I wish you'd take a typing class
I wish you wouldn't worry, let it be
I'd say have a little faith and you'll see

If I could write a letter to me
To me

How fun would it be to get a letter from yourself when you are a teenager? What would you think? Would you be afraid of what you would hear, would you laugh at yourself... what would you say?

So on Thursday... everyone have their "Letter to Me" ready for the Thursday Thunk! Make it serious, comical... who cares. It's your letter to you!

Start thinking!

Just the lake

Camera Critters
a simple Saturday afternoon at the lake.

PhotoHunt 122: Dark

I really miss doing this meme. I think because it falls on a Saturday is the only reason I forget about it all the time.

I'm sitting around this morning waiting for the hubby & kids to get moving so we can head out to the lake (I'll bring my camera!) so I thought I'd dig around and see if I could find something for this week's theme, which is dark.

This is what I came up with. Demon #1 sitting at her computer.

I have no food to feed you today.

I had the strangest dream the other night that I fell asleep in the living room and when I woke up I could see into the kitchen that the refrigerator door was open so I asked one of the girls to go close it. Then awhile later it was open again, so I got pissed off because, well, you know... if you want something done, you have to do it yourself. So I went into the kitchen and the fridge door was hanging wide open and the fridge was.... empty! Someone had come in and stole ALL OF OUR FOOD!

It was weird.

I think....

Everyone should eat an ice cream sundae tonight.

Just because I like them.

Thursday Thunks - my version

The land that I love....
My family. I was born & raised here.
Ice fishing... although I haven't been in forever. I should go this year
Never a dull moment in weather... where else can you run your AC one day and your furnace the next?
Not having hurricanes... or earthquakes.
Evenings... throw on a sweatshirt and roast some marshmallows!
Sunfish... love fishing!
Oh ya betcha now
Travel... there are really cool places to visit very close to home!
As safe as safe can get. At least where I am - pretty much crime is non-existent.

The land that I hate....
Mosquitos. Need I say more?
Icy roads. God I hate icy roads.
Nut cases. Everyboby has their nuts, I just think MN has an over abundance of them.
No Disneyland. Every state should have one.
Everybody knows you... at least in the small towns. Thats a drawback... and MN is known for it's small towns.
Snow. I hate shoveling
Oooooooh I can't think of one for this.
Tornados
And thats all I can come up with...

Thursday Thunks Version 6.7

Welcome to the Thursday Thunks! Where we make you think a little bit before you blog!

This week we will answer:
We had so much fun with last weeks self-descriptions that we are sorta going to do it again!

This week we are going to take the letters of the state you live in and use each one to describe why you absolutely love your state! Then take them again and use each one to describe why you absolutely hate your state!

.... and tell your friends!
