When You Wish Upon A Star

Since finding and bringing this blog back to life, I've been doing some reading of what I posted years ago... came across this post. Besides the fact that I spelled it wrong and it now irritating as hell to me, it's amazing how that wish came true.

Ok, not really. Saki didn't magically turn into another breed, but this happened....

I finally got my Shepherd. My Knucklehead. Shortly after that blog post, actually. Brought him home when he was a wee little puppy... he'll be 4 this August. What a trip that has been! Ever known a claustrophobic, highest fear anxiety dog known to man? That's my Knuckles. Smarter than any dog I've even known, but his shadow will scare the crap out of him.

It's a Dog's Life

(Sunday Stealing is here....)

It was our actual first day out at the lake this year... the girls had crappy luck at fishing (crappy - not crappie) and it was pretty short lived. They could see the fish, they just weren't biting.

It sure didn't stop Saki from enjoying the water & sunshine. No fish biting meant more time for the girls to play with her, so she was happy!

Last one in is a rotten egg!
If you're gonna go in - go in all the way!If you throw, she will retrieve.
after a nice swim there's nothing better than a famous dog shake!
and after all that fun, then it was time to play some fetch with the oversized Frisbee.
Saki, DROP IT!! (she loves to fetch, but she just never wants to let go!)

Chico, wanna play?

Saki has been ringing her bell all morning long... she knows the fresh snow outside is waiting for her. I keep letting her out and just before I was in the bathroom and looked out the window. She was jumping through the snow, diving in the snow and running all over the backyard.

Camera time!

Of course, Chico wanted to go out with me. He was due for a potty break anyway.

And this is how it went:

Whats that? Chico is coming outside?

Hey Chico, wanna play?
No, Saki, I don't like this snow. Its hard to walk in. You have long legs, it's easier for you. Just let me piss and I'm going back in the house.

I said DO YOU WANNA PLAY?????

No you stupid dog, I don't wanna play!

Mama, how come Chico doesn't wanna play with me in the snow?

This is what I think of Chico today.

More Snowstorm

Won't you come out and play with me?

Hey whats that?

Lemme see if I can dig it out....

oh yeah! My stick!

Snowstorm

Come on, Chico, come play with me in the snow!

No, Saki, I don't wanna play in the snow. Go away before I bite your nose.

Fine, I'll go play by myself with this human.

Camera Critters - 11.8 - Happy Birthday Saki!

Camera Critters
It's hard to believe, but Saki turned a year old yesterday! Of course, we haven't had her a year yet... she was 10 weeks old when we got her, but yesterday she turned a year old!!
In that short 10 months, it's amazing to think of life without her.
She has become my shadow, even now she's at my feet as I type this. When she hears me grab my car keys - she's at the door ready to go with! And she usually does go with... she's so spoiled.
I go to sleep each night with her on the floor next to our bed but somehow during the night she sneaks into the bed, unnoticed, and I wake up with a big golden butt in my face. And what a bed hog she is! But dumb me, I move over in my sleep to give her room... enough room for her to spread out sideways in the bed. Of course if the husband is in bed she sleeps in between us. Lucky for her he leaves at 3am, so she gets a few hours of comfortable sleep.

And since the husband is deer hunting this week... guess who gets the bed the whole night?

Happy Birthday, Saki. We wouldn't trade you for the world.
We've already had one offer from someone to sell her... no way, no how. There isn't enough money. The guy said "how about a million?" and I didn't even flinch... there is no amount that could get me to sell her.

Plus, she makes a good foot warmer.

Camera Critters Version 11.01

We've had an interesting week in the feline department. (I've talked about her here and here) My parents found a kitten that was starving and even though they aren't the most "animal lovers" they couldn't leave her. I took her home to litterbox train her, but she is now all cozy at my parents house. It's been a tough week for that little girl, who they have named "Princess". She was abandoned (or lost, we aren't sure), she was starving, found, taken home, vaccinated, dewormed, rehomed.. and yet she seems to have adjusted very nicely. She's still a little sick (a little kitty cold) but she seems to be doing very well.

Some of these pictures I've already blogged, but I'm sharing them again because they are perfect for the Camera Critters meme.

As you can see, she took to the dogs IMMEDIATLEY, but she wanted NOTHING to do with the other cats and she never did warm up to them. She's a one-cat-per-house kind of kitty, but dogs are allowed! Saki really took to her and the mothering instinct set in, I think. Saki is officially a year old next week. The kitty, Princess, got more baths from Saki than I think she got from her kitty-mama.

Chico liked her too, but not as much as Saki did. I think the fact that the kitten tried to nurse off of him turned him off.

Hey Saki, wanna bath?

It's been awhile....

A bath? Water? I like water! Are we going to the lake? The lake has water... I like to splash in it and chase things in it.. water is fun!

Whoa.. wait a minute... this isn't the lake. What is this?

I don't know if I like this.....
Ok I'm pretty sure I don't like this. There's the door... what if I make a run for it?

Maybe if I lay down... hey, this ain't so bad...the bubbles taste sorta good.
(notice how dirty the water got? She NEEDED a bath BAD!)
Ok now you are just making me look stupid.
But it's sorta warm.. I think I'll walk around the house with it on. All clean.... but next time can we just do it in the lake?
