02) What was your dream growing up? Sleestaks were in my living room and I am hiding behind my daddy's leather chair. Enik (the good one) comes and takes me out of the house into the front lawn and there is a pylon there. True dream... had it many many times growing up.

Blogging Block

I'm sure you've noticed that my blogging has gone down to pretty much zero. I'd say ziltch, but I can't seem to spell that word and people like to point it out :)
Part of my problem is I let memes sort of take over my blog... I didn't blog about anything other than memes and personally I sort of got burnt out. I found myself not even reading anyone else's meme answers. I guess I got tired of the repetition or something.

School is back in session and unless you live under a rock you already know that... it's amazing how much school can change people. Demon #2's personality did a 180 the minute school started. Now we are back to the argumentative, hostile, mean, difficult kid that I thought we lost over the summer. It really fricken sucks that she's back. Someday I'll get into the whole story of school bullies and being the odd one out, but I do know that it takes years to build character... and sometimes you don't see it being built until it's too late. There is a lot of fixing to do and honestly... I don't know where to start. The damage is done and is so deep that I don't know if we can ever fix it.

The demons going back to school. I think I'm the only parent who feels this way.

1. How did you come up with your blog title OR what does it mean?

Because of Demon #1 & #2, I live in a padded room world and most days I need a straitjacket... it's the world called parenting.

2. What are your general goals for blogging?

We are supposed to have goals in all of this?

3. Do people “in your real life” know that you blog and do they comment on your blog OR is it largely anonymous?

I have a few IRL people that read. And most of the people that have commented, I've become "online friends" with through blogging. But, then of course, there are those few people who think they read anonymously, but I know they are watching.

How often do you post (x per week)?

Depends on my mood, if I have something to blog about and/or if the memes are interesting. 3-5 times I suppose.

4. How often do you read other blogs (x per week)?

I try to read them everyday... or as often as they post.

5. How do you select blogs to read (do you prefer blogs that focus on certain topics or do you choose by tone or…?)

if they keep my attention. Simple as that. I tend to be turned off real quick of the ones who are constantly running contests. I don't get that.

6. Do you have any plans to copy your blog entries in any other format, 0r do you think that one day, you’ll just delete it all?

I'll just one day decide thats enough, and poof, I'll disappear and take the posts with me.

7. What are the things you like best about blogging?

the people I meet through it.

8. What are the things you don’t like about blogging?

People who visit religiously but don't leave comments. How hard is it to leave a comment? I love memes, but I have issues with those who just do the meme, leave their link on the meme site and then don't go visit other blogs.

9. How do you handle comments?

Handle them? I read them... sometimes respond if it's worth responding to.

10. Do you have any burning thoughts to share on blog etiquette?

I guess it goes back to the meme commenting. Take the time to comment.
And take the fricken music off your blog. First of all... it slows the page down. Second of all - how do you know I'll even like the song? Thats as bad as people who use those answering tones... you never hear the song anyway, only your callers do and newsflash for you - not everyone likes your kind of music.

11. Any desired blog features?

To blog for me when I have nothing interesting to blog about.

when I first read this I thought it said "accident". Silly me. No, I have no addiction. Yet.

1. Do you have children in school?

Both demons are in school. Demon #1 is in 8th grade, #2 in 7th.

2. Did you go to public school? If you have children did/do they?

Yes I did... and yes they do. Same school, too, how fun is that? And they even walk the same road I did to get there.

3. Are you currently in school or taking classes?

Nope, but I wouldn't mind doing it. I'd love to take some art classes or criminal psychology classes or veterinarian medicine classes... oh never mind. I'll never decide what I want to do when I grow up.

4. What level of education have you completed?

Technical College/VoTech

5. Do you, or did you have loans out for your (or your children's) education?

Nope. My parents paid for it. And, yes, I am kicking myself in the ass for only going to a "technically not a college" school. I could have taken art classes, criminal psychology classes, veterinarian medicine classes... as long as I was in school my parents were willing to pay. Boy was I a dumbass. But I hated school and the only thing I wanted out of it was me.

6. What are your thoughts on the cost of tuition for colleges and universities?

I think it's pretty outrageous, but then again I really don't know whats all involved in running a college so maybe it's worth the money, who knows.

7. Did school prepare you education wise for working in the real world?

No. It filled my head with tons of crap that I haven't used since I turned in the last piece of homework. I never once have had to find "x" in a triangle since then.

8. Did school prepare you emotionally for what lay ahead?

Yeah right... any teen who thinks their life is an emotional rollercoaster now should just wait... adulthood is worse. And the high school games never end....

9. If you were to run a high school, what changes would you make?

I'd give the kids more of a choice of what classes to take.... sure, take the math, English, all that happy crap, but give them more choices to explore their interests earlier. I'd also make class sizes smaller. I don't know how I'd do it, but I'd make it so less emphasis was put on the letter grade that you receive and more on what you've actually learned and taken in.

If you were at a friend’s house for a holiday dinner and you found a dead cockroach in your salad, what would you do? Say "I just found a dead cockroach in my salad" and probably stop eating right then and there.

If you could put anyone you know on Prozac, who would you choose? I don't wanna put anyone on that... I was on that years ago and I slept 20 hours a day. My shrink called it my "princess drug"... yeah, sleeping beauty. I just have a thing against Prozac.

How do you feel about public displays of affection? I think it's sweet. I love to see couples, especially those who have been married for decades, holding hands and stealing kisses. Make-out sessions on park benches leave a bad taste in my mouth, but affection? I think of affection as showing someone you love them... hugs, kisses, holding hands... and there's nothing wrong with that. The world needs more PDA's.

1. Don't spend it. Thats a very simple answer.
   
2. Don't buy $5 coffees, which I don't do. Seriously, I've never even had a $5 coffee - are they worth it?
3. My biggest one, but this only applies if you live in a small town like I do. Shop locally. I can't see driving 20 miles to go grocery shopping when the same items are here in town for the same price - sometimes cheaper! Sometimes they are a few cents more expensive, but Whamo! I just saved that on gas.
   
4. Cook at home. Stop eating out so much. I know a family that will drive that 20 miles because they want Burger King. Stupid. Eating out once and awhile is ok, but when you drop $25 on 4 subs at Subway, think about how many home cooked meals that $25 could make.
   
5. Don't always buy the cheapest stuff. Sometimes cheap is cheap and you'll end up buying more in the end. Dishsoap is an example - ever bought the cheap stuff? Wonder why it's so much thinner than Dawn? Because you get more soap with Dawn!
   
6. Turn off lights when you aren't using them - didn't your mother ever teach you anything? Better yet, use candles.
   
7. Walk once and awhile. If where you are going can get you there by foot in 10-15 minutes, leave your car keys at home once and awhile. Plus it will get rid of your inflating gut.
   
8. Make your kids suffer this Christmas. Take them to the homeless shelter for their gift.
   
9. Say "NO" to Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and school fundraisers! (anyone wanna buy a candy bar for $1? Demon #2 is selling them for her World Geography class....they wanna go to D.C. next year)
10. Quit blogging. Turn off your internet and that'll save you some cash. Of course you'll then have a bill at the local mental institution, but at least you'll have something interesting to tell your therapist.

1. What did you dream about last night? it's funny that you ask that because I know I had a dream about something that I hadn't thought of in a long time, but I can't remember it! It's wierd that I know it's something I haven't thought of in a long time though. I hate mornings like that.

3. Do you have any special talents? I suppose creativity can be considered a talent. Otherwise, I've got nothing.
4. Who is the most talent person that you know? thats a tough one - I honestly don't have an answer.
5. What did you watch on TV last? Whats Eating Gilbert Grape
6. Is there a new TV show that you would recommend? It's not really new, but New Adventures of Old Christine is a pretty good show. I've been slowly getting into Kath & Kim, too.
7. Who was the last person you phoned and why? AT&T because Demon #2's phone melted.. 2 hours later after talking with them AND Nokia, Krissy gets a brand new red Razor out of the deal... and her ring tone that I bought a few weeks ago will get put on her new phone for free!
8. Who was the last person who phoned you and why? My dad... I had to go clip their kitty's nails and bring her treats because they forgot to buy her some (spoiled!)
9. What was the last snail mail letter that you received? besides bills & such? Probably either something from church or school.

10 Things I'm Thankful for This Year

1. First and foremost, my family. Of course, thats a given a suppose. It extends further than just the demons & the husband. I'm thankful that we have had a year of non-health issues with my dad. For those of you who know what we went through a few years ago, you'll understand. It was rough and I'm glad we got another year of non-stressful times with him.
   
2. Saki. Yep, the dog. There was always something missing after I lost Max 4 years ago and Saki has almost filled that void. She will never take the place of Max and no matter how many times someone tells me "she's better than Max was", I refuse to accept that (even though it's true in many ways LOL). And, of course, I'm thankful that the husband said those beautiful words when we were thinking of getting a puppy; "why don't we just get a golden retriever". That was almost as precious as "will you marry me". Wait... he never asked me to marry him - we just decided to get married. Anyway, on to #3.
   
3. I'm thankful that my shops have given me one more year of income so that I don't have to go back out into the workforce. It's fun, I enjoy it and I can work in my underwear! Yeehaw! Plus, I like being home with the girls - even though they are old enough to be home alone, I don't want them to be.
   
4. My friends. Melissa has blessed me with another year of her bestest friendship. I just don't know what I would do without her... it's amazing the things I can tell her and the most she will say negative is "you're a dork". I love her to death and back. I just have to get out there to see her so I can feel her prego belly before she pops. I have an obsession with her prego belly. It's fun to feel her up. Then there is Kimber... thanks to the internet I have found another friend in my life that I can throw that "best" word in front of. And the strangest part of it is that we've never met face to face. Someday. Maybe I'll hide in the trunk when my parents go south this winter.
   
5. Health. I'm thankful we are all relativley healthy. We took Demon #2 off of the anti-depressants she was on and it seemed to do a world of good. The thyroid levels on both Demons contiue to flucuate, but thats going to be a lifetime issue.
   
6. Speaking of Demons - I'm thankful that I have come to the realization that I have to accept the girls (mainly Demon #2) for who they are and quit trying to mold them into someone else. It's been a long road and we still haven't seen the end of it yet, but it's getting better. I'm hoping that next year I can add that I'm thankful that everyone has accepted her for who she is.
   
7. I'm thankful that the economy problems haven't affected us as much as most. With me at home working and the husband being a truck driver and bringing the semi (owned & fueled by the company) home each night, we didn't have to fill up gas tanks on a weekly basis like most people. This could be #8, but I'll add it here - even though it's a sucky job at times, I'm thankful the husband is a truck driver. No matter how bad things get... the world will always need trucks to haul things to stores. It's job security. No layoffs in this family. And thankfully he works for a large trucking company - they aren't in danger of shutting down like some of the smaller companies have this past year.
   
8. I'm thankful my parents found that kitty... it was one of the best things that could have happened to them. They have never had pets themselves, only whatever I brought home. My stepmom is the most anti-pet person out there, but I found out yesterday that when she puts Sassy to bed at night (she sleeps in the laundry room), she picks her up, sets her in her bed and COVERS HER UP WITH A BLANKET. That cat has them trained worse than my cat.s
   
9. Blogging. Seriously... do you know how many "friends" I have met through blogging? It's amazing...
   
10. Love, laughter & smiles. I'm thankful for those every day of my life.

2. Favorite late night snack? a bowl of vanilla ice cream with chocolate & melted peanut butter on it
3. Do you own a gun? Not me personally, but my husband has a few, one of which will belong to the demons when they do their hunting safety course and go deer hunting.

5. When you were young, what career did you want? a veterinarian. But the thought of doing surgery on an animal is what kept me away.

15. Do you sleep alone? Nope, I share my space with the husband, 2 dogs and a cat. And I can't tell you who is the bigger bed hog. Well, Chico the pomeranian, he pretty much stays in the same spot at my feet, so he's good to sleep with. The others? Well... lets just say they all could take a sleeping-in-groups lesson.

1. My pets. That is definitely #1. I guess its like when my kids were little and they always did something cute everyday that I wanted to share with the world. Pets never grow up!

5. My forums and people have to stop and ask me WHO I'm talking about and then I get the "oh people online" like they aren't real people or something. How rude.
   
6. Religion. I love learning about other religions & different views, but to find someone who can question religion is hard. The coolest thing was when I found out one of my closest friends was a Jehovah Witness! I love listening to her explain her beliefs!
   
7. Gossip. I admit it. *whew* what a relief off my shoulders that I've come clean with that!
8. Old times. Different from my childhood & such - I love reminiscing about high school & such.
9. Fine. I'll say my kids. I do like to talk about them. Not as much as when they were cute babies and toddlers... I loved bragging about their first word or a funny thing they said, but now I'm usually just bitching about their PMS teenage hormones or attitude or something.

Manic Monday - TV, senses & wacky beliefs

How many hours of TV do you watch per week? Do you feel that's too much, not enough or just right? Less than 10. I suppose it's enough but there are always shows I miss.

Which of the 5 senses do you feel is your strongest sense? My sense of smell because I always think I smell something burning. I must have some hidden fear of the house burning down or something because at least a few times a day, out of the blue, I will smell burning something - food, plastic, whatever. It drives me nuts.

What's the wackiest belief you held as a child? You are gonna love this - that there was an Indian boy named "Falling Rock" in the Rocky Mountains that was lost and his Indian Chief father made the government put up all those "watch for falling rock" signs all over the mountains.

I still hate my dad for that one.

What are your nicknames? All of them? Puppet, from my childhood but a few people still call me that (one of my brothers) and I really don't care. Lee, which I haven't be called in YEARS. Angel, which only a few people called me.
