A new BSL T-shirt and a Find a Pit Bull test

I'm sure you know that one thing I am very passionate about is breed bans. I don't understand them, I don't think they make any sense and I just flat out hate them. The main reason that I am against them is because it just isn't logical... how can you ban a whole breed for the actions of a few dogs?

Plus, people don't know Pit Bulls other than what they show on the news.

Pit Bulls are not bred to be aggressive towards humans... they are bred to be dog aggressive. There is a huge difference there. Plus, many many people have bred that OUT of Pit Bulls. It's the underground breeders that are still breeding the aggression.

And I fully believe that you cannot be born bad. It's the owners, not the breed.

And, finally, do YOU know what a Pit Bull looks like? Do you really? Take this test and then tell me what you scored. I didn't do well at it at all... 9 or 10 I think I got?

The big question is... how can ban them if you don't know which one to ban?

Most of you have seen (at least I hope you have!) the pet section of my store. I have quite a few BSL/Breed Specific Legislation t-shirt designs listed.

Funny thing is... I don't even like any of the Pit Bull breeds (yes, did you know that? Pit Bulls are not a breed of their own? There are different types?). It's not because of the news or anything... its' just a breed I don't care for. I don't like poodles, either. I guess it's not that I don't like them, it's just breeds I don't care to own. Does that make sense?

Anyway... had to throw my shamless plugs in there and remind people how stupid BSL really is.

Germs are our friends!

Health officials in Minnesota and North Dakota have identified the first known cases of drug-resistant meningitis.

Minnesota State Epidemiologist Ruth Lynfield is also urging caution in the use of antibiotics, saying that misused antibiotics are the main cause of drug-resistant illnesses.

Link

I had to laugh when I read what the epidemiologist said. Sure, you all know how I can go on about how irritated as crap I am when it comes to antibiotics, but THIS IS WHY! All illnesses are going to become drug-resistant if people keep pumping themselves full of antibiotics and don't just start letting their immune system do what it's supposed to do.
I learned so much when the girls were diagnosed with hypothyroidism. With their immune system being weak because of the messed up thyroid it just seemed to make more sense to build up their immune system instead of babying it. The more I read, the more I realized I was right (and that there are still people out there who are like me!!!).

So people STOP buying the antibacterial soaps and cleaners and whatnot... let the germs in! Germs are what we NEED to stop this stuff... as hypocritical as it sounds.... germs are our friends! Don't let doctors give you antibiotics unless you need them 110%. There are too many doctors out there who will give a person something "just in case". It ain't worth it. I'm glad the doctors we deal with are in this type of thinking - they HATE filling out antibiotic prescriptions. Where do you think I learned that it would do my girls better not to go on antibiotics for minor things or things that they should be able to fight off themselves? (ok, my doc & the pediatric endocrinologist at the St. Paul Children's Hospital)

Did you know that most people should be able to fight off a minor to average infection on their own, without the use of any antibiotics in their system?

Day #7 - Goodbye & Good Luck

Well today is day #7 of no smoking. You want to know if these pills are worth it? Yesterday we were picking up a sled at some guys house and he pulled out a pack of cigarettes. I thought, "oh God, here we go!". I hadn't been around a smoker in 6 days. He lit one up and.......

.... nothing.

Thats right. Nothing. I didn't care. I didn't want to tear it from his hand, I didn't want to bum one from him. Nothing.

Then he got into our truck. I almost puked. The smell of smoke that was coming off of him made me gag. He wasn't smoking, he just stunk to high heaven of smoke. Yuck. If I needed a reminder on why I quit.. it was sitting in the front seat of our truck.

Ok other news. We leave today for Waconia 2008. Are you going? Why not? Well, if you are... stop by and see me! I'll be the one, as I've mentioned, sitting under a big green Kawasaki banner and sitting next to a big green Kawasaki sled. I'll also be holding a big beautiful white dog ransom for awhile... if Doc lets me I should say!

Bring me a cup of coffee, too... I'll be freezing my ass off! Or a shot of blackberry brandy will do just fine, too. Nothing warms up the blood like blackberry.

Saki isn't going with. I wish she was. They say a dog should meet 100 people by the time they are 16 weeks old. This would have been perfect for her, but the hotel we have reservations at doesn't allow pets and good luck finding a room this late! So she's staying home.

Oh and....

Decided to get my ass in gear and do some stuff to my InsanityWear shop. Always paying attention to SledderWear... always neglecting InsanityWear.

Bad. Bad.

Good for you snowmobile t-shirt junkies, though. (Yeah, new stuff at SledderWear.com too... but isn't there always?)

Anyway. After what feels like a year, I finally updated the "Whats New" section. Of course, some of the designs in there aren't even new anymore. Pathetic. Well, some of them are. There are new Valentines Day & St. Patrick's Day ones. Go check it out. You should... really. Because I said so.

So yeah. I did it. There you have it and now you know. And you are a better person now for knowing, too.

DONTCHA HATE IT WHEN

You wake up with a fricken headache? Why bother going to sleep if you are going to wake up feeling like crap. Right behind my right eye, too. It's gone now. Thank God for prescription ibuprofen!

I'm off to work. Need to throw some new designs up at SledderWear today so they can be fresh & new for the show the husband is going to this weekend.

Newsworthy

Remind me never to be famous. I don't want to go out for coffee one day and find out later it was a big news story of the day.
I mean, seriously, if the "news" isn't good enough to be more than one sentence long ... I just don't think people should waste their muscle use in their fingers typing it out just so someone like me can accidently click on it, thinking it's something good. I thought, at least, they walked away without paying.... or something.

In other celebrity news, my future husband has become a grandfather. Rumored at least. Go grandpa Mel! And congratulations to Hannah & Kenny... if it's true.
