Saturday 9: You Like Me Too Much

1. If everyone liked each other, what would we complain about?
the weather... just like always.
2. If you were most powerful person in the world, how would you use that power?
what kind of power do I have? Super powers? Mind control? Oh... I like mind control. I'd use it to make every asshole pick daisies and give them to random people.
3. If had exactly one year to live, what are the three things you'd want to do before you died?
Take my kids to Disneyland. Meet Kimber face to face. Play with tigers, leopards & cougars.
4. If you could change one thing about the world, what would that one thing be?
Get it back how it used to be when people weren't so germaphobic.
5. If you could take one thing back, what would that one thing be?
My Plymouth Sundance we sold years ago... I loved that car.
6. If you were stuck on an island forever but had all the water, food and shelter you needed. What would be the three other things you'd bring with you?
A male & female golden retriever... I end up with some interbred puppies eventually, but then I'd always have companions. A laptop w/unlimited internet usage & battery power and a boat.
7. If the internet didn't exist, would the quality of life go up or down?
Wow. Thats tough. Things are so convenient now as far as knowledge & communication, but I think the quality of people getting off their asses and doing something physical would go up.
8. If a million dollars fell off a back of a truck, would you keep it?
Is the Pope Catholic?
9. What is something you said, something you stole, something you did wrong?
"I love you" - hearts - broke some hearts

awwww.... lookie :) We feel so loved!

Welcome to Saturday: 9 .
We've never done a meme like this one before. We think that Thursday Thunks is as creative and silly a meme as there is today. Kimber and Berleen seem to be sweethearts! So today we spoof their meme as our tribute. We were going to postpone it, due to the sad loss of Kimber's Aunt June. But then we hoped we might just bring her a smile. That is our hope, anyway! If you have never played Thursday Thunks, give it a whirl. It's posted on Wednesdays. So here is today's meme with apologies to both Berleen and Kimberella!

Saturday 9: Thunking on a Saturday

1. You are walking down a rainy road. There is a five hundred dollar bill on the road. You look around and except for someone a half block away, you are alone. You naturally pick up the bill and put it away. That person approaching stops and says, "I saw you pick up that money. It's mine." You ask how much it was. She yells, "Are you calling me a liar?" What do you do?
I tell her she's a lair and then tell her I didn't pick up any money and keep walking...

Wait... why is it raining and why am I walking in it?

2. If I were to inspect your guest bathroom, how would I find it?
What guest bathroom? People have those?

3. You are given a state of the art bow and arrow. Who or what is your first target (after a lesson or two)?
probably something I wasn't aiming at.

4. The doorbell rings. The person at the door is wearing a raincoat and you know them. They flash you and are completely naked. Other than your S/O, who would you think would it would be and would guess you'd find that funny? Why do you guess that person and would you laugh or be pissed off?
it would have to be Kimber. It would be her way of saying "Nice to finally meet you face to face!". And I'd laugh and hug her in all of her nakedness.

5. What do you call a male Ladybug?
the same thing I call a male person - a pig.

6. Your friends throw you a party. They've got a big national music star to come and perform. It is someone you detest. Do you make believe you like the songs or do you fess up and get the star out of the party?
I fake it. Hey... they are famous. Maybe they know Mel Gibson and can do me a favor or two.

7. What's your favorite breed of wild, mean attack dogs?
Ok did someone ask this question just to piss me off? There is no "breed" of wild, mean attack dogs. Any dog can be wild, mean and attack. Seriously, WTF? Ban stupid owners, not breeds Get your facts straight.

Speaking of attack dogs... I just learned the other week that Golden Retrievers are #4 on the list for most dog bites. I guess I better get rid of Saki, huh?

8. If I called your high school guidance counselor, what would they say about you?
That she was a messed up kid who had no idea what she wanted in life....

9. Car A is moving at 63 miles an hour. 4 people are in the Car A. Car B is moving at 22 miles an hour. There is a driver and passenger who just came from a hotel while cheating on their spouses in Car B. They will crash into each other in exactly 3.5 minutes. What are your fun plans for this Labor day Weekend while these six people meet a brutal and gruesome death??
Fixing up a camper and maybe go fishing. I really wanted to see that crash though.... damn cheaters.

Saturday 9: I Ran

1. When's the last time you ran?
Yesterday... I ran around with Saki chasing me out at the lake.

2. Do your jeans have rips, tears, and holes in them?
My favorite, best fitting jeans, have a hole on each cheek. Sucks. I still wear them... they fit too good!

3. What are you dreading right now?
The demons going back to school. I think I'm the only parent who feels this way.

4. Do you like Mexican food?
Sure.

5. Favorite ice cream?
Peanut Butter Fudge Ripple - although they haven't made it for over 10 years.

6. When was your last doctor's visit?
I honestly don't remember. It was probably when I went in for the pain in my hands that they said there was nothing wrong with. That was 2 years ago maybe?

7. Do you get the full 8 hours of sleep a night?
More than that. Yes, be jealous of me.

8. How many pets do you have?
2 dogs, 3 cats, a snake and a bunch of fish.

9. "First Loves Are Never Over;" is this true for you?
Kinda sorta maybe. Depends on who I consider my first love that day.

Saturday 9: Heatwave - Where is this heatwave you speak of?

Saturday 9: Heatwave

1. It’s July. How has the weather been where you are?
Its July? I guess if you look at the calendar it is... I could have sworn it was late September. I don't think we even hit 60 today.
2. What is the best way for you to beat the heat?
live in Minnesota. Can you tell I'm cranky about the cool weather?
3. “It’s not the heat, it’s the humidity.” Do you buy that?
Yes I do. Humidity sucks especially if you have naturally curly hair, which I don't, but I listen to the demons bitch about it all the time. Nellie Olsen anyone? They get to thank their father for that one. They just get to thank me for the 10 lbs of hair on their head.
4. Do you like hot tubs or saunas?
Oh great, here we go with another story of Berleen the nutcase. I get claustrophobic in them. Yeah, figure that one out. Pools & hot tubs make me feel like the water is crushing my chest. I need a fricken shrink.
5. What’s the hottest you’ve ever been?
I'd have to say that day I wore my skin tight jeans and a white tank top without a bra and I was having a really damn good hair day.

Oh... thats not really what you mean, was it?
6. How many times do you hit the beach in the summer?
I don't believe in sand abuse.
7. When you were a kid, what did you do in the summer?
I went outside. Imagine that - it's a whole different concept than what kids today do.
8. Surfing. Have you ever gotten on a surfboard? Body surf?
There's this thing I've heard that sharks seem to mistake surfboards for critters, so I think I'll pass. Thanks.
9. What’s your favorite summer song?
Summer of '69 of course!

Sing it with me....
I got my first real six-string
Bought it at the five-and-dime
Played 'til my fingers bled
It was summer of '69

Me and some guys from school
Had a Band and we tried real hard
Jimmy quit and Jody got married
I shualda known we'd never get far

Oh when I lock back now
That was seemes to last forever
And if I had the choice
Ya - I'd always wanna be there
Those were the best days of my life

Ain't no use in complainin'
When you got a job to do
Spent my evenin's down at the drive in
And that's when I met you

Standin on a mama's porch
You told me that you'd wait forever
Oh and when you held my hand
I knew that it was no or never
Those were the best days of my life

Man we were killin' time
We were young and restless
We needed to unwind
I guess nothin' can last forever, no

And now the times are changin'
Look at everything that's come and gone
Somethimes when I play that old six-string
I think about ya wonder what went wrong

Standin' on a mama's porch
You told me it would last forever
Oh the way you held my hand
I knew that it was now or never
Those were the best days of my life

Wedding Bell Blues

Saturday 9: Wedding Bell Blues

1. If you have been or are married, tell us about your wedding. If you are not, tell us how would you want it to be.
It was sweet. Totally casual, people had beers in their hands while we said "I do". I wanted to be barefoot, but the husband said he wouldn't marry me without shoes on. Yeah, I don't know either. We roasted a hog, had a friend run the stereo for our make-shift DJ service. It was great! Cheap (because we had no money) but it was so fun... I wouldn't have changed a thing. Except I would have kept my shoes off. I still don't get that.
2. What age would you encourage your children to get married?
I don't think there is a perfect age. It all depends where you are at in your life.
3. Who got married at the last wedding that you attended?
the bride & groom
4. Do you enjoy weddings and receptions?
most of them, yes. If they don't play the Chicken Dance the whole thing wasn't worth it.
5. Have you cried at a wedding?
Not yet
6. Would you prefer a lavish event or a intimate ceremony?
Lavish is for the birds. Who are you trying to impress anyway?
7. Have you ever been in some one’s wedding party? If yes, do tell.
Twice. My sisters when I was around 11 or something and my bestest friends'. Hers was comical because I was 8 months pregnant.... she's got stories about that that she loves to tell. I'll just keep my mouth shut.
8. Does a wedding make you happy and sentimental or grouchy and skeptical?
Depends on who is getting married. If the husband becomes the ex and he gets married I might just be a little grouchy. If my demons get married I'll probably be one of those blubbery idiot moms that everyone want to lock in the coat closet.
9. Why do you think our divorce rate is so high?
Divorce is too easy. Plus nobody takes marriage seriously. I got into an argument with someone once... he tried to tell me that his marriage vows meant more than mine did. Funny how he's divorced now and I'm not. I guess I won that argument. Yea me!

Saturday 9: School Daze

Saturday 9: School Daze
1. Do you have children in school?
Both demons are in school. Demon #1 is in 8th grade, #2 in 7th.
2. Did you go to public school? If you have children did/do they?
Yes I did... and yes they do. Same school, too, how fun is that? And they even walk the same road I did to get there.
3. Are you currently in school or taking classes?
Nope, but I wouldn't mind doing it. I'd love to take some art classes or criminal psychology classes or veterinarian medicine classes... oh never mind. I'll never decide what I want to do when I grow up.
4. What level of education have you completed?
Technical College/VoTech
5. Do you, or did you have loans out for your (or your children's) education?
Nope. My parents paid for it. And, yes, I am kicking myself in the ass for only going to a "technically not a college" school. I could have taken art classes, criminal psychology classes, veterinarian medicine classes... as long as I was in school my parents were willing to pay. Boy was I a dumbass. But I hated school and the only thing I wanted out of it was me.
6. What are your thoughts on the cost of tuition for colleges and universities?
I think it's pretty outrageous, but then again I really don't know whats all involved in running a college so maybe it's worth the money, who knows.
7. Did school prepare you education wise for working in the real world?
No. It filled my head with tons of crap that I haven't used since I turned in the last piece of homework. I never once have had to find "x" in a triangle since then.
8. Did school prepare you emotionally for what lay ahead?
Yeah right... any teen who thinks their life is an emotional rollercoaster now should just wait... adulthood is worse. And the high school games never end....
9. If you were to run a high school, what changes would you make?
I'd give the kids more of a choice of what classes to take.... sure, take the math, English, all that happy crap, but give them more choices to explore their interests earlier. I'd also make class sizes smaller. I don't know how I'd do it, but I'd make it so less emphasis was put on the letter grade that you receive and more on what you've actually learned and taken in.

Saturday 9: Your Bestest Day

Saturday 9: Your Bestest Day

1. What one day of your life do you think was your best day? Two of them - the day I got Saki and years ago on the day I got Max.
You thought I was gonna say the birth of my demons, didn't you? Those were not good days. I was in pain and something the size of a fucking bowling ball was pushing itself out of my woohoo. Thats supposed to be the best days? Yeah right.
The best day was the day before Demon #1 was born... didn't have a parenting care in the world, hows that?
It wasn't the day I got married because everyone who's had a wedding knows how fricken stressful that is.
2. What one day of your life do you think was your worst day? The day I married my ex-husband. For so many reasons. That was just a bad day all around. Seeing the look on the husband's face (my current husband) that night when he realized I did get married was one of the worst things in the world... yeah, long story. I'll tell the story some day.
3. If you had to pick the best year of your life, when was it and why? 1995. We were young, starting out as parents, broke out of our minds, got married, lived in a shithole of a trailer house (trailer trash, we were!!!). It was good times. In all honesty, I miss those days.
4. If you had to pick the worst year of your life, when was it and why? I'd have to figure out the year, but it was my 6th grade year. We were living in Idaho and my parents decided to go back to construction, so I moved back to MN to live with my sister. Changed schools - twice. Just a lot of adjusting to living in someone else's house, new schools... it was harsh.
5. Most recently, what night did you do something that you loved? Don't remember, honestly.
6. Most recently, what night did you do something that you hated? Last night. Slept with a sick husband.
7. Tell us about your best relationship that did not work out. If it was the best, why wouldn't it have worked out?
8. Tell us about your worst romantic relationship that you’ve had. I suppose the ex-husband, although I never thought of putting him and romantic in the same sentence.
9. Is there a celebrity that you’d love to spend a “no hold bars” night with? Yeah, ok, seriously people... we've been over this. But just to change it up a bit, I'll pick someone else.... Travis Tritt.... as long as he sings to me.

Saturday 9: Letting the Sparks Fly

Saturday 9: Letting the Sparks Fly

1. Where would you go if you wanted to spark your creativity?
My kitchen table.... or the lake.
2. What would be one thing that would embarrass you a great deal?
I don't really know, I don't embarrass easily. I suppose falling on my ass in a large crowd or something. Which is funny, because even when I fall on my ass when nobody is around I still feel like a complete idiot.
3. What values did your parents instill in you?
There's nothing you can't do, some things just take a little longer - although I need to listen to that more often (and I keep throwing it back in my daddy's face!). And doing house things yourself... I never saw my dad call someone like a plumber or someone to fix something. He always did it himself. Up until a few years ago, that is.
4. What’s a fad of your teen years that you remember well?
Big hair. Has to be the big hair. The worship of Aqua Net and all that it did. My "own fad" was Harley shirts & leopard print pants, though. Nobody else really wore them, but I did. I guess maybe thats why I never made it into the "popular crowd".
Oh... and pinning your jeans. I still have scars on my legs from jabbing the pins into my flesh, because it had to be tight, ya know.
5. What is your favorite breakfast?
Coffee & peanut butter cups. Or strawberry PopTarts.
6. What is the best birthday gift that you have received?
a leather trench coat that the husband bought me years and years ago when we had no money, but I needed a coat.
7. What gadget could you not live without?
My computer. Thats a gadget, right?
8. Do you collect anything?
Too much junk, thats what I collect. But mainly, Big Sky Bear Bearfoots by Jeff Fleming.
9. What website (non-blog) do you regularly visit?
InsanityCafe.com, of course! And Facebook - I'm a Facebook addict.

Saturday 9: The First Apartment

Saturday 9: The First Apartment

1. Where had you moved from?
A house my ex-husband & I had.
2. Describe your first apartment.
It was what they call and "efficiency apartment" or "studio apartment". It had a kitchen, living room, bathroom & closet. It was as small as it sounds. Plus the building was older than heck, so it was just a scary place. Ironically, my parents own the apartments now but years ago my dad remolded them and there is no more no-bedroom apartments.
3. How old were you when you had your apartment?
19
4. Did you have roommates? If yes, tell us more.
Not at first, but because my ex wouldn't leave me the hell alone, 2 guy friends moved in with me. They moved in the night that I came home and found a broken off key in my lock. I knew who did it, contacted the cops and they said - and I quote - "what do you want us to do about it?". I had no proof it was him.. unless I could prove he had a broken key on his keyring.
Yeah... 3 people in that apartment. Good thing we all got along!
5. What was your place of employment then?
I worked as a waitress at a cafe down the street.
6. How were you finances at the time?
Nothing to speak of... I got money, I spent it. I was 19 after all.
7. Tell us about a lover who spent a night there.
It was a little cramped in there... nobody ever did.
8. Tell us about a band you listen to then. (You can cheat. Look it up.)
Poison.
9. How long did you live there and why did you move from there?
Less than a year, I don't remember exactly how long. Two of us moved into a bigger apartment down the street and soon after I moved in with The Husband.

Saturday 9: Crazy Sam's Last Meme of 2008

Saturday 9: Crazy Sam's Last Meme of 2008

1. What was the best thing that happened to you personally in 2008?
  • Saki. Lame, yes, but true. After losing my Max a few years back, I've looked at every Golden Retriever with sadness.... now I don't. Saki didn't replace Max, but she sure filled up that gap!
2. What was the worst thing that happened to you personally in 2008?
  • We've had a very good year. Well, not extra ordinary or anything but there is nothing I can complain about really. The only thing that really sticks out in my mind is watching/listening/reading about what Kimber & her family have gone through this year. It really was (is) heartbreaking and it put a whole new look on life for me. I hate seeing her go through this.
3. What was the best thing to happen to all of us in 2008?
  • Getting Bush out of there.
4. What was the worst thing to happen to all of us in 2008?
  • It's one more year of more lawsuits over stupid shit, more people screaming that their rights have been violated... every year society gets stupider.
5. What was the best gift you receive during the ’08 holidays?
  • I didn't get any gifts.... well, I did get a bag of candy for the white elephant gift at my parents. It was $20 worth of full sized Kit Kats & Starburst.
6. What was the best gift (most appropriate or best received) you gave during the ’08 holidays?
  • It would be a toss up between Demon #1's iPod and Demon #2's Nintendo DS. I had them convinced they weren't getting them.
7. Do you have any regrets about what you did in 2008?
  • Not really. Oh wait... I went 10 months without smoking and then started again. I sorta regret that, I guess.
8. Do you have any regrets about what you didn’t do in 2008?
  • I didn't win the lottery.
9. Did you meet anyone that became important to you in 2008?
  • um.... nope. Well, besides all the new blogger friends I've made. In person, no.

Saturday 9: How Do You Sleep

Sorry, Bud, I had to steal the pic. It's hot.

1. How long do you sleep each night? Usually about 8 hours. Sometimes 9.

2. Do you fall asleep easily? So easy that I send my husband into a jealous rage.

3. Do you fall asleep at times not in your bed? I've been known to fall asleep in my recliner very often. The family knows that if I'm rocking, I'm awake, if I'm not rocking; I've fallen asleep.

4. Do you listen to music or use “white noise” to sleep? I used to, as a teen/early adult, but the husband can't sleep with the radio on so now it's just quiet.

5. Do you sleep through the night or get up a couple of times? Most of the time I sleep through the night, unless the dogs wake me up. Usually they wake the husband up.

6. Do you have trouble sleeping away from your own bed? Yes. I have a hard time falling asleep away from home, but once I'm asleep - it's fair game.

7. Do you need an alarm clock to get you up? I set one, but I usually wake up 5 or 10 minutes before it goes off. I think it's genetic personally, because my brothers, sister & my dad is the same way. And we all wake up early, too. 7am is sleeping in.

8. Do you ever take medication to help you sleep? Only when I'm sick. I'm very sensitive to medication so even non-drowsy meds makes me sleepy. It's annoying when I'm sick.

9. Do you/have you slept with pets? Chico the Pomeranian is at my feet every night. Serena, my bitchy persian, sleeps right next to me and on some nights she sleeps too close to my face and I wake up with goopy eyes (Kinda sucks to develop an allergy to cats when you own 3 of them and refuse to get rid of them). The husband gets up at 2:30am for work, so after he gets outta bed, Saki (the golden retriever) takes his place. She is a bed hog. I've slept with animals every since I was a teenager... I actually move over for them in my sleep, which sucks when it comes to Saki because she wants to sleep right next to me so I end up at the edge of the bed by morning. And with a sore back from being uncomfortable.

But if Saki is comfortable, its all worth it. *eye roll*

Let's jazz it up a bit to make more sense:

Pleasantly surprised? Mel, of course. Horribly surprised? A corpse.

9. Who is your favorite 80’s band?

Saturday, November 22, 2008

Saturday 9: Dreaming of You

Saturday 9: Dreaming of You

1. What did you dream about last night? it's funny that you ask that because I know I had a dream about something that I hadn't thought of in a long time, but I can't remember it! It's wierd that I know it's something I haven't thought of in a long time though. I hate mornings like that.
2. Do you often have nightmares? No, not really.

7. Who was the last person you phoned and why? AT&T because Demon #2's phone melted.. 2 hours later after talking with them AND Nokia, Krissy gets a brand new red Razor out of the deal... and her ring tone that I bought a few weeks ago will get put on her new phone for free!
8. Who was the last person who phoned you and why? My dad... I had to go clip their kitty's nails and bring her treats because they forgot to buy her some (spoiled!)

Saturday, November 15, 2008

3. What is your favorite meal at a fast food restaurant? Big & Tasty and Chicken McNuggets from McD's.

4. Are you a morning person? Yes. People hate me for it.

5. When you were young, what career did you want? a veterinarian. But the thought of doing surgery on an animal is what kept me away.

6. Do you have a thing (it can be just fantasy) for a blogger that you read? Yep. Kimber

7. Do you wear jewelry? my wedding ring, my recently found class ring, my "mom" necklace and a belly button ring and a few earrings.

8. Do you wear perfume or cologne? If yes what type? None. Nothing stays on me more than 5 mintues anyway. Damn chemicals in my body.

9. Do you think about sex a lot? Yeah, but thats as far as it usually goes... then I think of how much work it would be and I stop thinking about it for a few minutes.
